Uniform Care. I will begin passing out uniforms on Fri, Mar 15. Please wash these with like colors. Use mild detergent. Do not use fabric softener or bleach. Remove from washer immediately and do not allow them to lay on itself when wet. Line dry or use "air only" setting on dryer. Also, take the lane sticker off the shorts immediately after each race.
The 10 day practice rule goes into effect this week. Athletes must participate in at least 10 days prior to the first meet or they will not be eligible.
Make sure you are aware of the two day absence rule and unexcused absence rule as outlined on page 5 of the 2021 Athlete/Parent Handbook. This will go into effect next week.
Make sure you are aware of the Grades Policy as outlined on page 6 of the 2023 Athlete/Parent Handbook. I will begin checking grades and school attendance this week. Athletes failing one or more classes will not be allowed to participate in track meets, beginning week four, until cleared by the course instructor.
Make sure you are aware of the Team Travel Policy as outlined on page 7 of the 2021 Athlete/Parent Handbook . All athletes are expected to travel to and from meets with the Team on school provided transportation. If you anticipate the need to go home with a parent/guardian, the parent/guardian must fill out a release form in the AD's office two days prior to the meet. Also, please be aware that a coach is not able to release athletes to anyone other than the parent/guardian. Do not leave a meet without the parent/guardian seeing the coach first.
Make sure you understand Meet Expectations as outlined by your event coach. You are responsible for bringing food, snacks, and water to the meet along with your uniform, sweats, tights, training shoes, and competition shoes. If you need 3/16 spikes for your shoes, I will have them available this week.
Check the 2024 MEET ENTRIES at the Islander Girls Track team site. If you are assigned to one of these meets but can not go, please email me ASAP.
